for Learning Pilot
DSDP Grant
Goal: To help all students achieve by identifying and creating methods for engaging all
students in learning.
- Represent
information in multiple formats and media.
- Provide
multiple pathways for students’ action and expression.
- Provide
multiple ways to engage students’ interest and motivation.
Pilot Process:
- Training: Instructors will participate in
training on UDL, Learning Disabilities and Learning Styles, Teaching
Strategies, How the Brain Learns and the Screening and Assessment Process. Some instructors will attend the
Association on Higher Education and Disability conference.
- Preparation: Instructors will begin to redesign
curriculum delivery and materials.
- Application: UDL will be used and evaluated in the
classroom. Grant staff will assist
with adaptive technology, research, coaches, additional training,
etc. Instructors may attend
conferences to continue training.
Instructors will meet regularly to share information.
- Evaluation and Dissemination: At the end of the first school year,
instructors will evaluate and determine best strategies and begin
dissemination to other community and technical colleges.
- Second
Round of Instructors:
First round instructors will orient and train a new set of pilot
instructors and provide coaching during the school year.
Outcomes:

Adapting Best Practices (teacher-friendly products,
resources and strategies) to share with other instructors at RTC and other
colleges.

Evaluate and be able to more effectively use
adaptive technologies in the classroom to benefit all students.
·
Refine and institutionalize the Screening and
Assessment Process for vocational programs.
The concept of UDL is
the intersection where all our initiatives--integrated units, multi-sensory
teaching, multiple intelligences, differentiated instruction, use of computers
in schools, performance based assessment, and others--come together.* *Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age
